The Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has announced the recruitment of Engineer Trainees through GATE 2018. The online Application process for BHEL recruitment through GATE 2018 score started on February 12, 2018, Monday. BHEL aims to recruit total 50 engineer trainees, 30 trainees from Mechanical engineering and 20 from an Electrical engineering background.
The last date for online submission of BHEL recruitment applications is March 12, 2018, at 11:59 PM and March 13 is the last date for online payment. Applicants on the basis of GATE 2018 score and their previous academic records will be shortlisted and interviewed.
After the candidates are finally selected, a service agreement bond of Rs 2 lakh to serve the company for minimum 3 years after completion of their initial training, need to be signed. GATE 2018 exam began on February 3 and ended on February 11, 2018.

GEN/OBC (Non-Creamy) applicants need to pay a processing fee of INR 300/-
SC/ST/PWD/EXSM applicants are exempted from paying the processing fee.

Eligibility Criteria for BHEL Recruitment
- Candidates applying for BHEL Recruitment through GATE 2018 for the post of Engineer Trainee must have a full-time Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Five-Year Integrated Master’s degree or Dual Degree programme in Engineering or Technology in the disciplines of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized Indian University or Institution. Also, the candidate should be able to present their Engineering Degree and Final year mark sheet as on 1st July 2018 or on Interview day, whichever is later.
- The General and OBC applicant must be under 27 Years (candidates born before September 1, 1990, are not eligible).
- However, 2 years relaxation will be given to candidates who have studied two years’ full-time Post Graduate in Engineering or Business Administration/ Management.
- The upper limit will be relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
- Applicant must register with his/her GATE 2018 registration ID.

Selection Procedure for the BHEL Recruitment through GATE 2018 Score
The merit list shall be prepared on the basis of the GATE scores, previous academic records and the performance of the candidates in the personal interview. Weightage given will be as follows
- GATE 2018 marks out of 100: 75% weightage
- Interview: 25% weightage
Training/ Probation: Candidates will have to undergo training for one year after joining and thereafter will be absorbed as Engineer Trainee.
Pay Scale: Candidates will be paid a basic pay of Rs 20,600/- during training in a pay scale of pay of Rs. 20, 600-46, 500/-. After successful completion of training, the trainees will be absorbed as Engineers in the scale of pay of Rs. 24, 900-50, 500/-. They will receive a basic pay of Rs 24, 900/- along with DA (Currently 114.8% of Basic Pay). Other Perks and Allowances (46% of Basic Pay) as well as benefits such as Leave, Leave Encashment, Medical facilities for self and dependent family members, Provident Fund, Gratuity, Performance Related Pay, Uniform, Subsidized Canteen Facilities, Company‟s accommodation or HRA etc. will also be accorded as per the company rules. The cost to company will be Rs 8.0 Lakhs per annum
Service Agreement Bond: Selected candidates will be required to furnish a service agreement bond of Rs 2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh only) that they will serve the Company (or any Government Department or Undertaking at the discretion of the Company) for a period of three years after successfully completing their training. Candidates will also be required to furnish a Surety Bond that has been executed by their parents/ guardian/ reliable surety.
