GATE 2018 examination for 23 papers will be conducted across eight sessions in four days, is expected to see an attendance of eight to eleven Lakh students. GATE 2018 exam is scheduled to be conducted by IIT Guwahati on 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th February 2018, in two sessions viz forenoon from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and afternoon from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm across the country.
At this juncture, it’s crucial to decide and act on the planning and strategy that will ensure your breakthrough in GATE 2018. GATE contains Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and numerical answer questions. It is an online examination of three hours, with 65 questions, carrying a total of 100 marks.

While solving the mock exams and sample test papers, students should aim to complete in less than three hours. Try reducing the time limit with every passing day. Plan the Schedule
With GATE 2018 is approaching, the focus should be more on revision and be practising with online tests instead of picking fresh subjects. Practice more tests, identify the weaker topics in each test and revise them.
No New Concept Learning
The time for learning and understanding new concepts is over. With just two weeks left for the final exam, students should concentrate on the topics that they know well and brush up their skills. This way, they will be able to score well on the basis of the concepts that they are good at, instead of worrying about the difficult ones.
Understand the Questions
Since the questions asked in GATE test the depth of understanding of concepts, it is important to spend more time on understanding the questions rather than rushing to finish the paper.

Take Care of Personal Health
Don’t fully involve yourself in the preparations. Being calm and staying healthy is as important as scoring good grades. One should not lose focus from the overall development of oneself. Maintaining good health is essential. If you are not taking proper care of your health, then you may fall sick, and suffer from weakness, headache or fever. This may disrupt your preparation. So, it is highly recommended that you focus on your health, eat properly and sleep well. Not only does doing so directly improve your academic performance, it has multiple long-lasting benefits.
Last Minute GATE 2018 Preparation Strategy
- You are advised not to read any new topic in during last days.
- Focus on revising the concepts and important Questions which you have marked during your preparation.
- Keep your mind relaxed and take proper sleep before the exam. This will help you in recollecting things during exam hours.
- Keep all the required documents filed with you in advance.
- Be ready with your GATE examination admit card and know your center before the exam day to avoid any last-minute rush.
