GATE 2018 Registration Last Date Extended, Know Updates Here

The last date for GATE 2018 Registration submission has been extended to Monday, October 9, 2017. A notification has been published on the official website of GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2018 exam has said that, in response to the request received for the extension of the closing date for application submission, it has been extended to 20:00 Hrs (IST) on October 9, 2017 (Monday). 

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the official organizer of the GATE 2018 exam has published some major updates on the official website of the exam.

According to the updates, the GATE 2018 organizers have said that, if the status of a candidate’s application says ‘under scrutiny’, the candidate need not worry about the GATE 2018 application form. The scrutiny process will continue even after the application portal is closed, so Wait till the scrutiny team processes your application. The update also said that only those GATE 2018 candidates whose applications need to be rectified in photo/signature/supporting documents, will be contacted by email and SMS. 

It also said the mandatory verification of email address and the mobile number is relaxed now. It also asked the candidates to submit their GATE 2018 application form now without verifying the email address and mobile number and to proceed to make the payment before the due date. However, you need to verify the email and mobile number later by login to GOAPS.

The GATE 2018 registration was set to close on October 5, today. Now the candidates who are planning to register for GATE 2018 will be getting four more days to register.

GATE 2018 examination is scheduled to be held on February, 3, 4, 10 and 11, 2018 in two sessions Forenoon (9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon) and Afternoon (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM). According to the schedule published by the official organizer of the exam, IIT Guwahati -, the results will be published in March 2018.

Corrections in the Submitted GATE 2018 Registration

  • Please note that the request for corrections in the application will be entertained ONLY when the candidate sends a request email (from the email ID registered with GOAPS) to the respective zonal GATE office, mentioned in the application form. In the email, please mention the Enrollment ID as well as nature of corrections to be done along with the scanned copy of proof.
  • Types of correction allowed are – Spelling of Name of the candidates, date of Birth details, Name of Parent/Guardian and Education qualification details. A Proper document would be required for the proof of the correction.

GATE 2018 Registration: How to Apply?

The candidates who are planning to apply for the GATE 2018 may follow these steps:

Step 1: Register in GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) at A candidate must enter personal details and should choose a password.

Step 2: Login to the GATE 2018 GOAPS website with the registration credentials.

Step 3: A candidates may enter the required details: Address for Communication, Eligibility degree details, College name and address with PIN code, GATE 2018 paper (subject), Choice of GATE 2018 examination cities, Photograph, Image of candidate’s signature etc.

Step 4: Click “Save and View Application” button.

Step 5: Click “Submit and Proceed to Payment” button.

Step 6: Pay the fee

Step 7: Complete the application process.

“Due to last minute rush, the mandatory verification of email and mobile number (before submitting the GATE application form) is relaxed. You will be able to submit the application form now without verifying the email address and mobile number. Also, make the payment before due date. However, you need to verify the email and mobile number later by login to GOAPS,” said the update from GATE 2018 official portal.

GATE opens the opportunities for candidates to take admission in various postgraduate and doctoral programmes offered in Indian Educational Institutions, pertaining to Engineering, Technology, and Architecture. Apart from that, various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also use the GATE scores to shortlist engineering candidates for their recruitment.
