The recent advancements in the world of test taking or entrance test, the GRE now paves the way for you to apply for an MBA as well. The worlds top business schools view GRE Scores equally with other graduate admission test. It provides schools with an excellent assessment of the skills you need to succeed in MBA and specialized masters degree programs.

Earlier the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) was the only valid test for applying for an MBA program. With GRE going its turf, GMAT surely has something to think about. Accepting GRE score also works in favor of the business schools as they are able to diversify their applicant pool with more candidates applying from varied streams unlike before. The GRE scores too, like the GMAT, are valid for a period of five years.

It is not easy to determine GRE scores requirements for b-schools. Many b-schools still do not release any official GRE scores for their accepted students. Even if they do, the data is usually half-baked and does not give any additional insights. Additionally, admission to b-school depends on the overall profile which is a mix of GRE scores, statement of purpose, work experience, and GPA, among other parameters. But for students wanting to apply through GRE scores, one thing is pretty clear, more applicants with GRE scores are ended getting to b-schools every year.

My advice to prospective MBAs is if all the business schools plan to apply to accept the GRE in addition to the GMAT, then contact those schools and find out if they have a preference for one exam over the other. While GRE is widely accepted, the only exam that is universally accepted is the GMAT.
