The Graduates from the top institutes like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) are the priorities of any recruiters as compared to the other Engineering/MBA Graduates. IIT and IIM Graduates are able to get much higher pay package than others, according to the Campus Hiring Report 2018 by the Global Online Talent Measurement solution provider Mettl.
According to the survey taken from 194 Engineering and Management Institutes across India during the first six months of 2018, “Graduates of IITs are taking 137 per cent higher salary package than a graduate of an average Engineering college, while Management graduates from top IIMs are getting 121 per cent more than a graduate of any Business School.”
The IITs considered as frontrunners —Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kharagpur, Roorkee, and Kanpur always tops the list and gets the average package of about 11.16 lakhs per annum. Mettl the global online talent measurement solution provider, which took a survey from 114 Engineering Institutes for campus hiring report 2018, said that “The students of IITs having Computer Science or Information Technology as their fields have the maximum chances of higher packages compared to others.
The highest annual package of Rs 6.9 lakh per annum is received by an IITian having zero experience, which becomes higher with experience.” The report also mentioned that not only top recruiters in India but other International mastodons like Amazon, Microsoft and Google also prefer IITs over any other Engineering College.

Earlier, the packages in NITs were better than IITs but from few years, as the campus hiring report 2018 states “The packages in IITs are now overtaking NITs.” The average per annum package for top NITs is 6.5 lakhs whereas the new NITs have 5 lakh per annum, and the students of rest NITs receive about 4.8 lakh per annum. Not only NITs but recruiters also prefer some top government and private colleges for recruitments.
Thr students related to technology fields especially computer science or information technology with the specifically required skillsets are profitable and get the even higher packages. The developing and promising areas- machine learning, Cybersecurity, IoT, Data Analytics have the higher scope of employment than others. For machine learning the highest package is 18.3 lakh p.a., for data science, it is 16 lakh p.a. and for Cybersecurity or security analytics it is 15.5 lakh p.a. The other best technology fields business analytics, web development, Graphics software developer, program analytics etc endure above 6 lakh p.a. category.
The other point of interest for top recruiters are the MBAs, the IIMs are way beyond when it comes to paying scale. Mettl’s survey of 80 MBA colleges revealed that the Graduates from top IIMs like Ahmedabad or Bangalore earn Rs 20.6 lakh per annum initially which is 121% higher than the Rs 9.3 lakh graduates get on average in India. For IIMs the case is not same as IITs, not only IIMs but other top private colleges receive about 19.6 lakh packages p.a.. The other top govt Institutes with 18 lakh p.a. also remains frontrunners in the recruitment race. The B schools graduates belonging to B.Tech (technology domain) receive 18.5 lakh p.a. salary.
The campus hiring report also mentioned that “The general management roles accounted for the maximum number of hires at 31 per cent, while roles in senior management were the highest paid jobs commanding 118 per cent more than the average salary of MBA graduates.”

Mettl Chief Executive and Co-Founder Ketan Kapoor added “That the top recruiters are recruiting different schools across the country to hire skilled and quality talent includes online assessments that are aimed at testing the logical reasoning, analytical, and verbal abilities of candidates. Also, in terms of their grit, determination and resilience.”
