  1. Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi (IITD)

Department of Management Studies (DMS) at IIT Delhi ranks amongst the top 10 B-schools of the country. IITD runs a two-year full-time Management program and provides courses in generic business administration (MBA) and also provides a special program in Telecommunication Systems Management (MBA-Telecom). There are a total of 115 seats in DMS IITD, 91 in management and 24 in Telecommunication management. The tuition fees for the course is 8 lakh which is payable in 4 semesters. Average salary package goes around 16.21 lakhs per annum.

To be eligible for the admission, a candidate must possess a 4-year technical graduate degree in any discipline from any recognized university with minimum 60 percent aggregate or 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point scale in their graduation. A minimum CAT percentile of 95+% is required for the candidate to be eligible for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview stage.

  1. Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay (IITB)

Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSoM) at IIT Bombay offers a Two-Year Full-time Master of Management (M.Mgt) Program. The course structure of Masters of Management taught at SJMSoM is unique with core subjects like Technology Policy, R&D Management and Managing technology transfer. There are 120 total seats for the program, with a 100% placement record and an average placement salary of 17.62 LPA. The tuition fee for Masters of Management program is 8.30 lakh.

In order to be eligible for M.Mgt in SJMSoM, a candidate is required to have a four year Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in any discipline with first class or 60 percent marks in aggregate. Additionally, a minimum CAT percentile of 98.5 or more acts as the next step for qualification. Shortlisted candidates are called for WAT and PI for final selection during the admission process.

  1. Indian Institute of Technology – Madras (IITM)

The management program is run by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS) at IIT Madras. The program offers standard Master of business administration degree. With a seat total of 68, MBA from IIT- Madras costs INR 7 lakh. The average salary of an IITM MBA graduate is 11 LPA.

Graduates in any discipline possessing a first class division or 60 percent marks are eligible to apply for MBA in IIT Madras. Factors like CAT score, previous academic performance,  and work experience are further taken into consideration for shortlisting candidates for the Two-Year MBA Programme at IIT Madras. It is seen that a minimum CAT percentile of 96% is needed to make it into the shortlist. The final selection is made on the basis of performance in WAT, PI and Composite Score.

  1. Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur (IIT KGP)

Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur was the first management school in any IIT in the country, laying the foundation of quality management education on which the other IITs grew. The total tuition fee of MBA at IIT Kharagpur is Rs 3.36 lakh per annum, i.e. Rs. 6.72 lakhs for the entire PG course. The average salary during the recruitment season last year was Rs. 15.61 LPA.

A Bachelor of Engineering or Technology degree or Master in Science/Commerce/Economics degree (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) is required to be eligible for MBA program in IIT Kharagpur. General candidates must have a minimum of 60 percent marks in their graduation, or else a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale. The CAT percentile of the candidate should be more than 90% to have a chance to be on the shortlist. In the final round, shortlisted candidates have to appear for WAT and PI rounds.

  1. Indian Institute of Technology – Kanpur

The Department of Industrial Management and Engineering (DIME) at IIT Kanpur offers a highly affordable Two-Year MBA program with elite quality education. The total program costs Rs. 2.91 lakh in residential mode. Hostel fee in IITK comes to around Rs. 24,350 yearly. However, there are only 78 total seats in the program. The average placement package is 10.42 LPA.

Students pursuing MBA from IIT Kanpur are offered specialization options in sectoral areas like Manufacturing Management and Service Management. The student to teacher ratio at IIT Kanpur is almost 5:1 which works really well for the students as well as the faculty.Candidates only from certain disciplines like B. Tech., B. Sc. Engineering, B.E. or B. Arch. (having Mathematics in Class XII) are welcome to apply for the management programme at IITK. They must possess a minimum aggregate of 60 percent in their graduation from any recognized institute.

The eligibility criteria for admission to DIME, IITK also requires a valid CAT score, with a minimum percentile of 95. As part of the selection process, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their score in the CAT exam and then invited for the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

  1. Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee

Department of Management Studies in IIT Roorkee provides a two-year full-time MBA Program which has only 95 seats to offer. The programme costs Rs. 8 lakh and offers dual specialization in the areas of Information Technology, Finance, Marketing, Operations and Human Resource management. The average package of placed students from IIT Roorkee MBA program is 9.18 LPA.

In order to pursue MBA from IIT Roorkee, candidates need to be graduates from any discipline of Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree with first class or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognized Institution or University. Candidates of General/OBC category seeking admission to the MBA programme in IIT Roorkee must have at least 60 percent marks or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale.

Initial shortlisting of candidates is done on the basis of their CAT score with 94.6+ percentile being the minimum percentile, followed by Group Discussion, Personal Interview, and their Work Experience. CAT percentile is given 65% weightage in the final selection process, followed by Personal Interview with 20%, Group discussion with 10% and finally work experience with 5%.

  1. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

IISc Bangalore is one of the most reputed and prestigious institutions in the country and it too has a management program.The flagship program offered by IISc Bangalore is known as Master of Management (M. Mgt).The total tuition fee of MBA at IISc Bangalore is 1.66 Lakh for General and OBC candidates whereas Rs. 66,300 for SC/ST candidates. Average placement package is usually about Rs. 13 LPA.

A candidate who is looking to take IISc MBA Admission should hold a B. Tech/ B.E. degree with a first-class score, and a minimum CAT percentile score of 98%. The shortlisted candidates are called up for a rigorous selection procedure which includes Group Discussion, Writing Ability Test, and Personal Interview.

  1. Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) – Dhanbad

ISM Dhanbad is the most recent addition and the first amongst the alleged ‘New IITs’ to offer a management program under its Department of Management Studies. DMS, IIT Dhanbad offers a Two-Year MBA Programme with specializations offered in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource and Systems and Operations Management costing Rs. 3.4 lakhs. While the fee of MBA from IIT Dhanbad may seem paltry, there are only 62 coveted seats in this program.

The eligibility criteria are minimum 50 percent marks in graduation from a recognized University. The candidate also has to have a minimum CAT percentile of 80 – 85% to be eligible for admission to the management program. Shortlisted candidates are further called for group discussions and personal interviews as part of the final selection for MBA programme at IIT Dhanbad. The average salary is Rs. 8.00 LPA.
