MAT Exam (Management Aptitude Test) is a national level entrance test, conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA). MAT is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Any B-School can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. Highlights of MAT 2017 Exam
Mode
MAT is among the popular management entrance examination as it is conducted in an ‘offline’ and ‘online’ mode. This means that those taking up the examination offline will have to carry pencil and an eraser with them to colour the correct answers on the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet.
The offline MAT examination will take place on February 05,2017. The online or the computer based examination will take place on February 10,2017. The number of slots for online MAT 2017 examination will depend on the number of applicants who are taking up the examination.

Duration
The duration for upcoming MAT 2017 examination is two hours and thirty mins. i.e. 150 minutes. There is no time limit assigned for each section and candidates can answer questions in different sections depending upon their convenience. The exam officials propose that candidates should not spend more than 30 minutes on each section.
Eligibility Criteria
- The minimum qualification to appear for the test is graduation in any of the streams like science, commerce and arts.
- The candidates who are in the final year of the graduation can also apply for the exam.
- The candidates who have a minimum of 50% marks in their graduation can apply for the test (45% marks for the SC/ST candidates). The NRI candidates can also appear for the test.
- There is no age limit to appear for the MAT exam. The candidates of any age can appear for this entrance test.
- There is no attempt limit for the examination.
Application Fee
- The application form fee for all the candidates is Rs 1200/-.
- There is no fee concession for the reserved category.
- The fee can be paid through Credit card/debit card, net banking, demand draft and through cash payment mode.
- The demand draft will be made in favor of All India Management Association from any bank.
Test Paper Sections
The MAT examination is divided into five sections. In each section there are 40 questions. Some of the participating institutes do not take into account the marks scored in the Indian and Global Environment section.

Language Comprehension
This section of reading comprehension is aimed at judging the comprehending and reading skills of the candidates. The candidates will have to read the passages given and answer the questions based on it.

Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
In this section, the candidates would have to answer questions on topics like Data Arrangement, Blood Relations, Series and Sequences and Critical Reasoning, Direction Sense, Input/Output analysis, Coding and Decoding. The objective of this section is to assess the candidate’s logical reasoning ability.

Data Analysis and Sufficiency
The aim of this section is to judge the candidate’s critical thinking. Questions in this section are based on Direction Sense, Input/Output analysis, Coding and Decoding, Data Arrangement, Blood Relations.

Mathematical Skills
Candidates will be required to quickly answer the questions which would be based on business Mathematics, Arithmetic, and Geometry. It is important that the candidates thoroughly know their basic formulae and other concepts.

Indian and Global Environment
This section focusses on the domestic and international current affairs. Candidates need to regularly read a national daily. In this section, anything on general awareness could be asked.
Marking Scheme
A candidate scores 1 mark for each correct answer and there is negative marking scheme of ¼ marks i.e. 0.25 marks. The maximum marks, which a candidate can score is 200 and the scaled score is given out of 800.
MAT Result
MAT 2017 result will be declared one month after the examination. The validity of MAT examination Score is for one year.
