GATE 2019 Exam will be held online on February 2, 3, 9 and 10, 2019 for 24 papers by IIT Madras. It is the high time for the Mining Engineering GATE 2019 Exam aspirants, to start their preparation in a serious and intense manner. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), a national level examination, jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT – Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on the rotational basis.
GATE is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admissions to Postgraduate Programmes (ME, M.Tech, MS, Direct PhD) in institutes like IITs and IISc and other with financial assistance offered by MHRD. GATE scores are also used by the Public Sector Units (PSUs) for recruiting individuals for various prestigious government jobs with attractive remuneration.
IIT MADRAS has revealed the official dates to conduct GATE 2019 examinations – 3rd, 4th, 9th and 10th of February 2019. It’s just a few months left for GATE 2019 therefore, it is necessary for all the students to start preparing for the GATE 2019 as it is mostly based upon your comprehensive knowledge rather than cramming abilities which require practicing several questions but not learning a few.

MINING ENGINEERING GATE 2019 EXAM PATTERN
A candidate can appear in only one out of 23 papers. Each paper consists of 100 marks from 65 total number of objective questions. Candidates will have a time duration of 3 hours to answer those questions. There are two types of questions: multiple choice and numerical answer type. There are 3 sections.
1) Mining Engineering (70%)
2) General Aptitude (15%)
3) Engineering Mathematics (15%)
The paper has 2 type of questions namely, MCQs (multiple choice questions) and numeric types questions which are to be answered on virtual keyboard via mouse. The marks awarded for both typed question can be 1 or 2 depending upon the score a question carries. For negative marking, it is 1/3 for 1 marker and 2/3 for 2 marker multiple choice questions. No negative marking is there for numeric type questions.
The aptitude problems are based on basic math and English skills and are very easy. They do not require much preparation. The course for the Mathematics portion is vast but the questions asked are relatively easy. It would be better to cover all the topics as it is the high scoring portion. Most questions are short and based on direct application of formulae.
The most important part is the Engineering part. This section is comparatively difficult and requires sincere effort. The questions that asked will be of graduation level. The total marks of the GATE MN paper will be 100.

I will suggest following the textbook that you are most comfortable. The main thing is to be clear your fundamentals before appearing for an exam. The above-mentioned topics are just for better preparation. It is highly recommended that aspirants should study the complete syllabus in detail rather than just a few topics. Since there is still ample time for good preparation for GATE, candidates should cover the complete Mining Engineering GATE 2019 Syllabus.

MINING ENGINEERING GATE 2019 PREPARATION STRATEGY
The preparation strategy can be cumbersome if all taken at a time. So for making it easy to design and follow it must be divided in specific parts like
DO’s for GATE Exam
- Practising mock tests and previous year papers.
- Keeping your fundamental concepts clear and on tips.
- Learning some tricks of Vedic Maths
- Practising formula-based questions to learn formulas.
DON’T ‘s for GATE Exam
- Wasting time on phones or social media
- Sticking on one topic for long.
- Reading theory more than practising pratical questions.
- Clearing doubts just before an exam.
TimeWise Strategy for Gate Exam
July – August = Analyse where you stand in your preparations and go for basics first, clear all the doubts related to fundamental concepts and practice as many problems you based on the formula and gradually keep increasing the level.
Sep-October = Start picking the difficult chapters, the trickiest ones, and try to command on them. Check the previous year question papers and try to find out the questions on these topics, to know the pattern these topics follow.
Oct-Nov = Try to pick topics subject wise, like for 2 weeks practice and general aptitude, the next few weeks to engineering mathematics and rest to core subjects, and even within the period of core subject try to divide the same among different topics. It is also the time when you should join test series online.
Dec -Jan = The crucial time is here, this is the best time to start revisions and practicing mock tests, even the mock tests needs revisions so, revise and grab as much as you can. This is the time when you can make the most benefit of your hard work, it’s better not to waste time on newer and difficult topics during this period of time. Carry on with the online test series.
Feb – Just a few days left! this is the time when you should go your 3rd revision, if you reach your 3rd revision, nobody can stop you from scoring atleast 75 in exams and aggregate for topper’s score is between 80-95.
