There will be NO GST (Goods and Service Tax) or any other taxes on CAT 2017 Registration Fee of INR 1800 (INR 900 for reserved categories) but it will attract the bank transactions charges in the range of 0.75% to 2.85%. While online payment of CAT 2017 registration fee, use of Credit card is the costliest mode while the cheapest mode is ATM cum debit card.
CAT 2017 Convener and faculty IIM Lucknow, Prof Neeraj Dwivedi confirmed that CAT 2017 registration and application fee of Rs. 1800/- and 900/- (For SC, ST, and PwD category candidates) will not attract additional GST or any other taxes, the only additional charge applicable on the CAT 2017 registration and application fee is the bank transaction processing fee.
The additional charges for the normal category may go beyond Rs. 51 unless you explore the cheapest online payment mode for CAT 2017 registration fee which can be as low as Rs. 13 or so.
The news of no GST or other taxes on CAT 2017 registration and application fee would provide relief to the CAT 2017 applicants to some extent who have been raising query whether GST or other additional taxes are also applicable on the amount while making online payment of the CAT 2017 registration fee.
While for other MBA entrance exams, they need to pay extra as GST applicable over the registration fee. Substantially post implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India, the bank charges itself have gone up, which is another addition to the application fees.
As per the guidelines of the Central Government, Services provided by the Indian Institutes of Management to their students for admission in 2 years full time residential Post Graduate Programme in Management (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) and Fellow programme in Management, on the basis of Common Admission Test (CAT), conducted by Indian Institute of Management are exempted from GST.

Bank Transaction Charges Over CAT 2017 Registration Fee
According to the details of applicable bank transaction charges shared by CAT Centre 2017 at IIM Lucknow, both categories of CAT 2017 aspirants – General and Reserved category need to pay these processing charges. Although no other taxes or GST is payable along with the CAT 2017 registration charges.

If you are paying CAT 2017 registration fee through Credit card, you need to shell out 1.20% or 2.85% of the value of transaction depending on the card. A General/NC-OBC candidate needs to pay Rs.1800 while an SC/ST/PWD candidate has to pay Rs. 900 towards CAT 2017 registration fee. The total amount will also include applicable additional charges of the banks.

Accordingly, if you are using the Amex/Dinner Club credit card, you have to pay 2.85% of the transaction value of Rs.1800/- (Rs.51.30) in addition to the CAT 2017 registration fee. Net banking is also an economical mode of payment. Depending upon which bank facility you are using, you may pay Rs.15 or Rs.18 extra along with CAT 2017 registration charges, directly through your bank.
If you pay the CAT 2017 registration fee online through ATM-Cum Debit card, you need to shell out only Rs. 13.50 in addition to the CAT 2017 registration fee (Rs 1800) as it is the cheapest mode with 0.75% of the value of the transaction.
GST Applicable on Other Exams Registration Fees
If you are an applicant for SNAP 2017, NMAT 2017 or other management entrance exam, 18% GST is applicable along with the exam registration fee. For example, if you are making the payment of NMAT 2017 registration and application fee of Rs. 1800/-, you need to pay Rs. 324/- as GST @18% additionally. This is apart from paying the bank transaction charges if making payment online or by demand draft.
Accordingly, if you are making the payment of SNAP 2017 registration and application fee of Rs. 1750/-, you need to pay Rs. 315/- as GST @18% in addition to the bank transaction charges if making payment online or by demand draft.

CAT 2017 Registration to Close on September 20
CAT 2017 registration process started on August 9, 2017, at 10 AM. Aspirants are suggested to go through the CAT 2017 registration instructions and CAT Registration guide before proceeding to fill up the CAT 2017 registration and application form.
The CAT registration process is proposed to close on September 20, 2017 at 5 PM by CAT Organizing Authority, IIM Lucknow. All the key details and procedure have already been announced and made available at CAT official website by the CAT 2017 exam convening IIM Lucknow.
Registration Process For CAT 2017
IIM Lucknow has kept the entire registration process for CAT 2017 purely online and candidates have to pay the CAT 2017 registration fee of Rs.1800/- through various online instruments like Credit/Debit cards; net banking among others. The off-line voucher purchase process for CAT exam was scrapped totally in CAT 2014 and now only the online system continues.
At the time of registration, the candidates have to select any four Test Cities out of 144 CAT 2017 Cities as per their preference from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, candidates will be allotted one among the 4 preferred cities and either of the two sessions.

The CAT 2017 admit cards will be available from October 18, 2017 onwards and will have to be downloaded from CAT 2017 website.
CAT 2017 will be a single day 2 session exam and will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 across the country at more than 400 testing venue. The shortlisted candidates on the basis of CAT 2017 scores will have the opportunity to get admission into Indian 20 premium management schools – Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and many other top B-schools across India for the two year full-time management programmes and Fellowship Programmes in Management.
