The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the examination notification for the recruitment of 323 Assistant Commandant (AC) posts in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. The application window for interested and eligible candidates to apply for UPSC CAPF vacancies has been opened. The notification for UPSC CAPF 2019 Assistant Commandants recruitment has released 323 vacancies, less than 75 vacancies that declared last year.
UPSC scheduled to conduct 3 level test to recruit the eligible candidates in Group A (Assistant Commandants) in CAPF consists of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). From this year, UPSC has introduced the facility of withdrawal of Application for those candidates who do not want to appear for the Examination.
The deadline is May 20, 2019, for online application. The application forms for CAPF recruitment can be filled through UPSC Portal. In order to offer the recruitment to the deserving candidates, UPSC is scheduled to organize the UPSC CAPF 2019 written exam as the first stage of this recruitment on August 18, 2019.
Candidates who qualify the first stage of written exam will only be called for 2nd stage of selection i.e Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. Eligibility Criteria
- Interested candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- Both Male and Female candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Commandants.
- A candidate needs to hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university/College or possess an equivalent qualification to apply for the post.
- Age of candidates should be in between 20 to 25 Years as on August 01, 2019. Age-relaxation rules apply.
- An NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate is a desirable but not compulsory qualification.
- Candidates must meet with minimum physical standards as specified in the official notification.

CAPF 2019 Application Form
The interested candidates can apply for CAPF 2019 only through online mode from the official website of UPSC, any other mode of application is not allowed. Applicants will have to pay a non-refundable application fee for CAPF 2019 AC exam as Rs. 200/- to complete their applications. Females and SC/ST category applicants are exempted from paying the application fee.
CAPF 2019 Exam Centres
The test is expected to be organized at Agartala, Gangtok, Panaji (Goa), Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Patna, Aizawl, Imphal, Port, Blair, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Itanagar, Raipur, Bangalore, Jaipur, Ranchi, Bareilly, Jammu, Sambalpur, Bhopal, Jorhat, Shillong, Chandigarh, Kochi, Shimla, Chennai, Kohima, Srinagar, Cuttack, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Dehradun, Lucknow, Tirupati, Delhi, Madurai, Udaipur, Dharwad, Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam, Dispur, Nagpur in the year 2019.
CAPF Selection Procedure
The written examination of the UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandants recruitment will comprise of two papers – Paper I (General Ability and Intelligence – 250 Marks) and Paper II (General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – 200 Marks). The Paper I will be of MCQ Type and will be held on August 18, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 12.00 Noon and Paper II will be the descriptive type to held on the same day from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
In the objective type question paper, there will be negative marking for wrong answers marked by a candidate. There will be minimum qualifying marks separately for each Paper as may be fixed by the Commission in their discretion. The commission will evaluate the Paper-I first and Paper II will be evaluated only for those candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in it.
For both writing and marking answers in the OMR Sheets (Answer Sheet) candidates must use black ball point pen only.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for UPSC CAPF 2019
Candidates those have qualified in written exam will be called for Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) and Medical Standards Tests.

Interview/Personality Test
Candidates found qualified in the physical test will be further invited to attend the Interview/Personality Test. Total marks for Interview/Personality Test will be 150.
Depending on the final scores (of all the stages), the candidates will be selected for BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP ranks. The result of CAPF 2019 Exam will be uploaded at UPSC official website in the month of September 2019 (tentative).
