We humans often get stuck in a hamster wheel of habit. We do things that are not good for us, remain where we shouldn’t and put ourselves through voluntary suffering all in the name of comfort. We don’t know these things are damaging because its normal to us. Many people want to be successful in life, but its easier said than done.
There are so many distractions that it can be challenging to discipline oneself to accomplish a monumental goal. By keeping the following advice in mind, however, you can dramatically increase your chances of becoming successful in whatever you choose to pursue. The definition of success may not be the same for everyone, but there are always things we can add or need to give up from our daily routines to make us more successful and productive.
“Whatever the present moment contains accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it” —ECKHART TOLLE. Here are few things you should quit doing today to be successful in life and career too.
-
Give Up Trying To Be Perfect
Too many people spend their lives chasing someone else’s idea of perfection. These people are ruled, not by what they really want, but by what they think they are supposed to want. As a result, they sacrifice all of their time to build up other people’s kingdoms. We all are different from each other.
Our careers are different from each other as well. If you think your career as a long path, everyone will use different routes to go through this pain. There is no one right way or direction. This route depends totally depends on your goals. Once you achieve one goal, you will add another to your plate. It will keep on going like this, a never-ending cycle until you put an end to it. Therefore you should be proud of yourselves.
If J.K Rowling doesn’t believe in her story books, there won’t be any Harry Potter today. If the Wright Brothers don’t trust themselves, there will be no aeroplanes today.
Be yourself, be special, be unique and be authentic.

Quit ”Toxic” People’s Company
In everyone’s life, there will be people who will resist, threaten and sabotage the possibility of self-improvement and success. Under the influence of a toxic person, you second guess yourself on an important decision. You might feel san and uncomfortable and downright ashamed of your own progress and well being. When you are surrounded by people who are highly driven, it’s encouraging. If you spend time with people who are more accomplished than you, no matter how challenging how it can be, you will become more successful.
-
Give Up Waiting For Your Luck
Don’t wait for opportunities to fall in your lap. Sniff them out. If you are waiting to get lucky in your career, its time to shift your mindset. Luck build its foundation on preparation. In order to have a good fortune, you have to be willing to work hard and Smart. Be the right person in the right place at the right time through preparation. Take control of the situation and be proactive about creating the career and the life you want. There is no shortcut for success. Successful people make the big investment (in their careers, businesses and education) all investments involve risk. Lead, don’t follow. Leading the way can be dangerous.
-
Quit Saying Tomorrow
You know the saying, “Yesterday you said tomorrow?” Seriously, stop that! Delaying or procrastinating around something that you think is important means one of two things. You’re either scared to start because it means your life will change or you want it for the wrong reasons (i.e. someone else is encouraging you to do it).
But every day you wait to start is another day you’re not helping yourself. Stop lying to yourself, and start creating a more reliable you.
Too often, we get stuck wishing because we’re too scared, too lazy, to put in the work it takes to make our wish our reality.
Next time you put something off, whether it be a small everyday task or a step toward your dreams— take a second, and think to yourself, “how many times have I said tomorrow?”

Selectively Lower Your Confidence
You read it. It’s a truism in business or any career you choose that you need to have the high self-confidence to get things done. But some people think, and for good reason, that lower self-confidence makes people more successful, for these reasons:
–Lower self-confidence makes you pay attention to critical feedback and helps you be more self-critical. If you are convinced you are a God’s gift to take a right decision for your career, you probably won’t be receptive to feedback., you-Lower self-confidence makes you pay attention to critical feedback. Nor will you be able to criticize yourself effectively. Successful people do exactly that.
–Lower self-confidence makes you work harder and prepare more. If you are not convinced you are going to nail your next presentation next Monday, you are likely to spend more time practising and going over your numbers. This is a great habit.
–Lower self-confidence makes you less narcissistic. Less narcissistic people are respected more by co-workers, and happy co-workers make a more successful team. It’s no secret that respect will you be successful.

Don’t Wait For Other’s Approval
“Á strong person doesn’t need the approval of other any more than a lion needs a approval of sheep”–VERNON HOWARD.
People will always have their opinions; that’s inevitable. And much of this crappy advice doesn’t come from a negative place – more often than not it’s from those who care about you. By nature, we want to protect those we care about, and sometimes that means we give really crappy advice. The funny thing is, though, that many times when we’re asking for advice, all we’re really seeking is validation. We know what we want to do, but we don’t all consider our gut a trusted advisor. So we ask others. And when we don’t get that validation that we need, we doubt. We rationalize. We reconsider. STOP, Trust your gut.
Believe in yourself enough to turn your ideas into more than mere words. Stop listening to everyone else’s excuses why you won’t make it and decide instead to prove them all wrong.

Beware of Fixed Mindset
Most of us are guilty of having a fixed mindset certain situations. That can be dangerous because a fixed mindset can often prevent important skill development and growth, which could sabotage your health and happiness down the line. When you say to yourself you cant do something, you set a limitation. Limitations are self-constraints. Thus, if you tell yourself you are not good at marketing or you cant pursue a particular career or business, guess what? You limit your success. Beware of creating new limitations. Change your attitude. Reflect on all the possibilities rather than restricting your behaviour in ways guarantee failure.

Give up Fixing Your Weakness
Emphasize strengths, don’t fix weaknesses– TIMOTHY FERRISS. If you concentrate on working on your weaknesses you will be average at most. Quit working on weaknesses. Focusing on our weakness stresses our brains and make us believe that we are not good enough. It will lower your morale. Spending every day reminding of what we are not good at it is frustrating. The brain does only what guarantees survival and uses only what it knows. If we do opposite and think about our strengths, our brain let us believe that we are strong. Only a positive, happy relaxed brain can be truly creative and think freely. Most people are master at just one thing and guess what they have spent most of their lives improving their strengths.
To conclude one needs to understand to adapt these above concepts in life to be successful and reach what they have dreamt of. To be successful one we should give up the things that will hinder us to reach our goal in life. Many of us want to achieve our dreams, to be able to get there, willing to get risk for that dream and to succeed on it. But always remember what you give up that makes you rich. And also don’t forget to be humble no matter what you’ve become.
