Bank Jobs in India were one of the most sought after career option for a long time until the the rise of IT and Software companies. Things have undergone a change now as freshers are eager to write bank exams so that they are eligible for various recruitments in public sector banks. 

 

In the past few years, Government Jobs in Banks have been in huge demand due to high degree of job security, salaries and exciting career and growth opportunities offered by Banks. The ideology of IBPS Exams and Online Application Form of Bank Jobs and has completely changed the way bank exams are perceived in India. Candidates have to go through a common selection procedure for all the Public sector banks in India and ECGC (Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India).

 

Public sector banks are facing competition from private banks and have already started new branches in rural and semi urban areas. Eligibility for Bank Exams in India

Banking sector in India consists of commercial banks as well as co-operative banks. Every bank has different eligibility criteria for different posts.

• The candidate must be a citizen of India.
• In general the candidates applying for bank exams are need to be graduate from any discipline for entry point officer cadre posts in many commercial banks.
• Recent trends have shown that private banks invite applications from 1^stclass graduate candidates for officer trainee positions, whereas public sector banks invite 1^st class to apply for PO.
• Clerical cadre recruitment may appoint those applicants who have cleared higher secondary OR graduation and very rarely takes place in private banks and public sector banks.
• In some banks, the minimum required qualification for clerk position can be 10 + 2 and the maximum age limit for the candidate applying for the job can also be as less as 25 years. But in such cases a diploma degree is required to prove that the candidate has brief knowledge about the work that he / she is applying for.
• Foreign OR Private Banks- Officers or other candidates will be taken from parent organization on merit basis.
• The candidate must be between the age group of 18-28 years for clerk position and 21-30 years for PO position. And relaxation age limit is there for SC/ST/OBC/PH or any other reserved category.
• RBI– For the recruitment of Reserve Bank Officers (Grade A/B) examination will be held by RBI Services Board, Mumbai. The age limit is from 21 years to 26 years and must be a graduate/post-graduate/CA/MBA.
• The candidate must have good knowledge of computers and specially MS Office for applying for Probationary Officers (PO)

Generally in public sector banks, an All India Level examination is taken up for the post graduates from which the candidates are chosen. Professionals like engineers, lawyers, MBA’s and CFA’s are recruited by the Private and Foreign banks for these positions.

Exam Pattern and Admission Procedure

• Foreign/Private Banks– Management institutes such as, Xavier Labour Relation Institute, University of Delhi, IIMs, and University of Bombay make the selection. Candidates will go through orientation program for 3 weeks before 6 month to 1 year, they appoint as Assistant Manager.
• Nationalized Commercial Banks– Advertising for these banks is done through banking services recruitment boards (BSRB).
• Reserved Bank of India– For the post of Grade I examinations are conducted across India. RBI examination includes General Mental Ability Paper and English Proficiency Paper.
• State Bank and Other Nationalized Banks– Written test and PI for PO recruitment is conducted by the Central Recruitment Board.
