Allowing Books during engineering exams, National-level council for technical education in India, AICTE has approved this proposed new educational reform. Exams with having books i.e Open book exams may soon be implemented in technical institutes. This is in continuation with the AICTE new reform policy such as induction and training programmes. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has accepted the recommendations sent in April-May, this year, for open book exams.
Very soon, engineering students will be allowed to take their books with them, while writing examinations in their colleges. In a landmark decision, the statutory body for technical education, AICTE has decided to allow books inside the examination hall. Meanwhile, AICTE has confirmed that GATE is not mandatory for engineering students, for exit exam.
This is part of Examination Reforms Policy by AICTE. Besides Open Book Examination, there will other reforms too, such as mandatory internships, research work, group projects and more.
