The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is a joint entrance exam for post graduate studies in the field of technological design. The examination is hosted by the Industrial Design Centre,Indian Institute of Technology Bombay on behalf of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is a descriptive test covering a student’s logical, creative, observation and drawing skills, tested in particular for admission to various design courses in the field of Visual Communication, Animation Graphic, Industrial Design, Product Design and, Vehicle Design and Mobility.
IIT Bombay is conducting CEED 2017 on January 22, 2017 from 10:00 to 13:00 hours. Candidates will be given admissions to the Masters of Design programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IISc Bangalore , and to Ph.D programmes in Design at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Kanpur. Validity of CEED2017 score card is for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result.
CEED 2017 examination will be conducted in two parts. All candidates must answer both the parts. Those who are shortlisted in Part A will qualify for the evaluation of Part B. Only Part B score will be used for CEED 2017 merit list.

Eligibility Criteria For CEED 2017
Candidates must have passed a degree/diploma/postgraduate degree programme of 4 years or 3+2 years, or must be appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2017, or must have passed the GD Arts diploma programme by July 2016.
There is no age limit to appear for CEED 2017. Also, a candidate can appear for the entrance exam any number of times.
CEED 2017 Application Form
Application Form (online) with regular fee is available from October 17 to November 11, 2016 (23:45 hours). Submission of completed filled application form with late fee of Rs.500 can be done between November 11 and 18, 2016. Aspirants can check the complete application procedure and apply online.
Application Fee (in INR)
- 1100 for all women candidates
- 1100 for all SC/ST/PwD candidates
- 2200 for all other candidates
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Candidates can make payment via credit card/debit card/net banking.
Admit Card
Admit Card of CEED 2017 will be available for downloading from December 26, 2016 to January 21, 2017. Candidates need to take a clear and coloured printout before appearing to the exam centre. This is an important document of identity and should be kept safely until the admission procedure is over.
Exam Pattern
CEED 2017 will be conducted in two parts. All candidates must answer both the parts.
Part A
It is a computer-based screening test. It evaluates visualization and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, anal]ytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity, observation and design sensitivity. Candidates, who are shortlisted in Part A, will qualify for the evaluation of Part B.

Part B
Only Part B score will be used for CEED 2017 merit list. This part evaluates drawing, creativity, communication skills and analytical and problem solving skills.
CEED Result 2017
Result will be announced online on March 10, 2017. The score card can be downloaded from March 15,2017 onwards, and it is valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result. However, it will not guarantee admission. A candidate must apply to respective institutes for admission and fulfil other requirements such as tests and interviews of the respective design departments. The announcement for admission to the postgraduate programmes in design will be notified by the individual institutes separately.
