The Union Education Ministry released the top law colleges in India as per NIRF Ranking 2022. The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru has retained for the fourth consecutive year as the top Law Institute in the country according to MHRD ranking system- National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF). The NIRF rankings 2022 for educational institutes were announced by Union HRD minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 15, 2022.
NIRF Ranking 2022 is announced to rank the Indian Educational Institutes for 11 categories which included Overall, Universities, Research Institutes, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, Dental, and Law.
As per NIRF ranking 2022, National Law School of India University Bengaluru, National Law University Delhi and Symbiosis Law School, Pune are the top 3 institutes for law programs. NALSAR Hyderabad and NUJS Kolkata have been ranked 4th and 5th respectively under the Law category, completing the top five law schools as per NIRF 2022 ranking for India’s top 30 law Universities.
The third position was taken by Symbiosis Law School which significantly improved its position of ninth place last year. Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad has slipped one position from third last year to fourth this year.

The NIRF Ranking 2022 methodology draws from the overall recommendations and broad understanding arrived at by a core committee set up by MHRD. The NIRF rankings access Law Education Institutes on the below parameters –

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched on 29th September 2015. The objective behind this NIRF ranking system is to encourage institutes to compete against each other and simultaneously work towards their growth. In addition, these rankings also attract foreign students, providing a solid base for the ‘Study in India’ programme.
