Every year, the first-year students of IIM Bangalore’s Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) are selected for Summer Internship Placements (SIP), during the Summer Placement Week, for a two-month internship in the months of April and May.
The Summer Internship Placements form an integral part of the IIMB curriculum and is intended as an opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world practices.
IIM Bangalore is mentoring IIM Visakhapatnam for all activities, including summer placements. The second batch of IIM Visakhapatnam, comprising 54 students, will be participating in the SIP on IIMB campus. IIM Visakhapatnam students will be available for internship from 3rd April to 31st May, 2017.
Professor Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services (CDS), IIMB, said: “The two-month summer internship has been appreciated by companies visiting the campus as it provides necessary professional exposure, making our graduates ideal candidates for taking up a range of challenging managerial roles.”
A total of 407 students, who are among the best in India in terms of diversity, as well as academic and co-curricular achievements, from IIMB’s batch of 2016-18, will be participating in SIP 2017. They will be available for internship between 3rd April and 31st May, 2017.

“Many organizations use the SIP as an opportunity for an in-depth assessment of our students and often extend Pre-placement Offers (PPOs) to their summer interns. Every year approximately 150 PPOs are made to the interning students in a variety of roles such as Management Consulting, Investment Banking, Sales & Marketing, Product Management and Supply Chain Management,” said Sapna Agarwal, Head of Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore.
The Summer Internship interviews for the batch of 2016-18 will be followed, over the next few months, by Final Placement Interviews for the PGP batch of 2015-17, comprising nearly 410 students from IIMB.
