UK NARIC Evaluates ICAI Qualifications: The ICAI CA Intermediate and Final qualification will now be considered equivalent to an Undergraduate and Master’s level degree in the UK. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI has announced that UK-based national agency, UK NARIC evaluates the ICAI Qualification and referred to the ICAI CA intermediate as a graduate, comparable to an RQF Level 6 and CA Final as RQF Level 7, equivalent to a Master’s level degree in the UK.
In the context of the UAE Education System, ICAI’s CA Intermediate course is considered comparable to the QF Emirates Level 7 equivalent to a Bachelor degree standard while the CA Final course considered comparable with QF Emirates Level 9, a Master’s degree standard equivalent.
The UK NARIC (The National Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom), a renowned UK national agency responsible for providing information and opinion on academic, vocational and professional qualifications from across the world. They had conducted an independent benchmarking study to evaluate the comparability of the ICAI Intermediate and Final level in the context of the UK and UAE education system.
ICAI President Prafulla P Chhajed while Speaking on the UK NARIC benchmarking said, “The benchmarking of the CA qualification comparable to RQF Level 7, Master’s degree standard not only would strengthen the position of ICAI members but would also help aspiring Chartered Accountants and even corporates to gain a better understanding of the relevance and standing of the CA qualification. It would also provide better opportunities for higher studies and enhanced professional opportunities for ICAI members/ semi-qualified professionals in the UK, Middle East & other foreign jurisdictions accepting NARIC evaluation.”

Earlier, ICAI members were facing difficulty in settling abroad. But now after this evaluation, it would help them in deciding the stage of a professional qualification for ICAI members as they know that they possess a professional qualification of relevance.
ICAI Vice-President CA Atul Kumar Gupta remarked on UK NARIC Evaluates ICAI Qualifications that “As India is increasingly focusing on facilitating the export of accountancy services, the promotion of global mobility of accountancy services in a digital world is one of the important Champion Sector initiatives of the Government of India. This evaluation would increase the professional avenues for our members by facilitating recognition of Indian accountancy qualification.”
