The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the notification for Engineering Services Exam 2020 to recruit approximately 495 posts in engineering positions for various departments of the Central government. The last date to submit the online applications is October 15, 2019, until 6 pm and the online process for UPSC ESE 2020 has already begun from September 25, 2019.
The Commission has provided the withdrawal facility for the Candidates to withdraw their application later if they do not wish to appear for the engineering services exam this year. The online Applications can be withdrawn from October 22 to October 28 (till 6.00 PM) after which the link will be disabled.
UPSC Engineering Service Exam (ESE) also known as Indian Engineering Services (IES) Exam is the most sought after and prestigious examination for the engineering graduates. Engineering Services Exam 2020 Test Centres
The IES Preliminary Exam 2020 will be conducted on January 5, 2020 (Sunday) in 42 cities across the country. While applying, Candidates can choose their preferred examination centre. The commission will allot the centre on the first-apply-first-allot basis.

UPSC IES 2020 Exam Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the UPSC IES 2020 Exam are set by the Commission in terms of maximum age allowed, limit allowed and the minimum required educational qualifications.
Age Limit
As far as the UPSC IES 2020 Exam age limit criteria is concerned, candidates whose age lie between 21 years to 30 years in the exam year (i.e 1st Jan. 2020) are eligible by UPSC. Also, age limit relaxation for UPSC IES 2020 Exam is allowed to certain categories of candidates as per government norms.
Education Qualification
- Candidates should have Degree/diploma in the concerned Engineering discipline from a recognized University or Institute.
- Candidates having M.Sc degree in subjects like Wireless Communications, Radio Technology, Radio Physics, and Electronics are also eligible to apply for the IES 2020 Exam. Though, such candidates with non-engineering but degrees in science disciplines have access to be considered only for certain posts under the UPSC IES recruitment exam.
Engineering Services Exam 2020 Application Fee
Candidates (excepting female/SC/ST/ PH who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay an application fee of Rs 200 online through SBI Net banking or by cash through SBI bank challan or through credit card/debit card.

How to Apply Online for UPSC ESE 2020?
Step 1: Candidates should read the complete notification before proceeding for the application form.
Step 2: Then go to upsconline.nic.in and click on the link Engineering Services Examination (Preliminary/Stage I) Examination.
Step 3: Select the ‘Online Application’ option. Read the instructions carefully and proceed further.
Step 4: Fill up the form as per guidelines – the required details like age, qualification etc.
Step 5: In part II registration, pay the exam fees, select examination centre, upload photograph and signature.
Step 6: Agree to the declaration made by you
Step 7: Press ‘Submit’ option and then Take a printout of the finally submitted online application for future reference.
Engineering Services Exam 2020 Selection Procedure
IES 2020 Selection Procedure comprises of three staged processes.
Stage 1st: Preliminary Examination
Stage 2: Mains Examination, and
Stage 3: Personality Test/Interview.
The candidates will be shortlisted through stage I and those will be eligible for the Stage II process. Candidates who qualify the prelims and the mains exam will be eligible for the personality test. The number of candidates to be summoned for the Personality Test will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled.
