Top National MBA Entrance Exams
1. CAT (Common Admission Test)
CAT is the most popular examination for admission to postgraduate management courses in approximately 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). It is also used for admission to MBA courses over 100 B-schools in India. It is estimated that around two lakh MBA aspirants appear for CAT every year.
The application form fee is Rs. 1800 for General category candidates and Rs. 900 for reserved category candidates. It is an online examination and candidates are not allowed to go to and fro between the sections. It is generally held in the last week of November.
2. XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test)
Xavier Aptitude test is an online test that is held annually as an admission test in XLRI and other B schools. It is a Post Graduate entrance exam at the national level and is conducted for admission to programs such as Business Management (BM), Human Resource Management (HRM) and General Management Programme (GMP).
The application form fee is of Rs. 1700 (Rs. 300 per XLRI programme). It is conducted in the first week of January.

3. IIFT (Indian Institute Of Foreign Trade)
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 and it is one of the most prestigious business schools in India. Approximately 50,000 candidates apply every year for around 400 seats. There are three campuses located in New Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada. It is held in the 4th/5th week of November.
4. SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test)
Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a National level postgraduate entrance examination. It is conducted by the Symbiosis International University (SIU) for admissions into the MBA programme at this university. It is conducted in the mid of December every year.
5. NMAT By GMAC
NMAT By GMAC is an MBA entrance exam which is conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The exam is used for admission at NMIMS University and 23 other B-schools across India.
6. CMAT (Common Management Admission Test)
CMAT entrance exam is conducted by AICTE or NTA for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes. The score is used for admission at over 1000 B-schools approved by AICTE. It is a computer-based test. The test is of 3 hours duration. The test is organized in the last week of January.
7. IBSAT (IBS Aptitude Test)
Conducted by the ICFAI Business School Hyderabad, IBSAT is an aptitude test for MBA aspirants who seek for admission into the management programme of ICFAI. Rs. 1800 is the application form fee. The test is held all over India in many cities. IBSAT exam is organized in or after the third week of December.

8. IRMA Issues of Social Concern
IRMA entrance exam is conducted by the Institute of Rural Management, Anand. It is used for admission to the Post Graduate Programme in Rural Management (PGPRM). The test is held in the month of February and is an online test. IRMA entrance examination has only one section named Issues of Social Concern. Candidates aptitude skills are quantified through scores of CAT or XAT. IRMA and other activities concerned is conducted from 2nd to 3rd week of February.
9. MICAT
MICAT or MICAT Admission Test is Conducted by MICA Ahmedabad, MICAT test is used for admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Communication (PGDM-C) programme. MICAT has both objective and subjective questions from topics like Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, DI & LR and GK.
It is held bi-yearly in the month of December and February. It is not mandatory for candidates to appear in both MICAT. If a candidate appears in both MICAT, their best of the scores will be considered by MICA. The test is conducted twice in a session,i.e in the first or second week of December and February.
10. Maharashtra MBA Common Entrance Test
The test is conducted by DTE, Maharashtra. It is used for admission to post graduation management degree MBA/MMS and PGDBM/PGDM courses in Government Managed University and Unaided institutes of Maharashtra. For General category candidates, the application form is of Rs 1000 and Rs. 800 for reserved category candidates. MAH CET MBA is held 2 days in the second week of March.
11. AIMA-MAT (Management Aptitude Test)
MAT is conducted four times a year in the months of February, May, September & December. It is held by the Centre for Management Services (CMS) division of All India Management Association (AIMA). It is conducted in both offline and online modes. The application form is of Rs. 1400.
The exam dates are different for both online and offline modes. Nevertheless, both are held in the 4th week of February.
12. ATMA (AIMS Test For Management Admissions)
ATMA is a national level examination and the score is used for admission to MBA/PGDM and other postgraduate programmes like MCA. There are about 100 MBA institutes which take ATMA scores for admission Rs. 1100 is the application fee for ATMA. The test is conducted in the last week of May.
13. TISSNET
TISSNET examination is conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). It is an online examination and is of national level. It has 5 major campuses in India in Mumbai, Tuljapur (Maharashtra), Chennai, Guwahati and Hyderabad. Every year the test is organized on or before the second week of January.
