CAT 2018 Registrations have touched a new record. The number of aspirants for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 has touched a record 9-year high with around 2.41 Lakhs of successful registrations closed on 26 September 2018 at 11:59 PM. Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC), the organizing institute of CAT 2018 started the CAT registration from August 8 and concluded the process on September 26 (11:59 PM). Initially, the deadline for CAT 2018 registration was September 19 but it was extended to September 26.
Candidates who have successfully registered for Common Admission Test this year have given a chance to change their improper/blur photograph from September 27 (10:00 AM) to September 30 till 5:00 PM on the CAT 2018 official website.
CAT, the competitive entrance examination which is being conducted primarily for admission to postgraduate courses – the two year full-time management programmes and Fellowship Programmes in Management in Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other top Business Schools.

“From the period CAT 2010 to CAT 2018, this is the highest number of applicants,” said Professor Sumanta Basu, Convenor, CAT 2018. Last year as many as 2.80 lakh candidates registered for the CAT 2017 exam, out of which only 2.31 lakh applied for the exam by paying the application fee. The total number of registered candidates in CAT 2016 was 2,32,434 which got minimally down to 2.31 Lakhs in 2017. Compared to last year, there has been a 4.32 % rise in the number of applications in CAT 2018.
The number of CAT 2018 registrations has crossed 2.41 lakh making an upward swing with around 10,000 more candidates than last CAT 2017 registrations showing a rising registration count reflecting the regaining trust of CAT aspirants and anticipation of better career opportunities after completing MBA/PGP from an IIM or other good B-school.

CAT 2018 Updates
CAT 2018, the national level computer-based test is scheduled to be held in two sessions on November 25, at centres located in 147 cities across India. The release of results in tentatively fixed for the second week of January 2019. The admit card of CAT 2018 will be available from October 24 at 01:00 pm which will carry information like test schedule and test venue and exam day instructions along with the candidate details.
The CAT 2018 official website also contains a section on Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) that addresses some of the common queries regarding CAT 2018. Candidates may also contact the CAT helpdesk over email or phone.
CAT 2018 Exam Pattern
The examination will be of 180 minutes and candidates will be allotted 60 minutes for answering questions in each below-mentioned section and they will be restricted to switch from one section to another. The questions will be in three sections —
1) Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
2) Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)

The marking scheme for CAT 2018 is as follows:
- For the correct answer, 3 marks will be awarded for both MCQs and Non-MCQs.
- For incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted for MCQ and no marks will be deducted for a Non MCQ type question.
