Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE 2018 results were declared on March 16, 2018, by GATE 2018 exam Conducting body IIT Guwahati. Today, IIT Guwahati releases GATE 2018 Scorecard for the qualified candidates. The results and scorecard are now available on the official website gate.iitg.ac.in. Candidates can now download their GATE 2018 scorecard from the official website.
Candidates can check their results and download GATE 2018 scorecard by logging into the GOAPS. Kindly note, all qualified candidates are required to download their scorecards from the GATE 2018 official website. There is no provision for the issue of hard copies of the GATE scorecards. The GATE 2018 scorecard is valid for a period of three years.
Aspirants can download their score cards by simply entering the details like enrolment number, date of birth and registration Id. The scorecard released by the board will contain student marks and All India Ranking (AIR) which will help students to take admission to post-graduation engineering courses and appearing for PSU Recruitment. The counselling process for admission will begin after the mark sheets will be out.
The GATE scorecard downloaded from the official website would be acceptable by various institutes as an official document for higher degree admission. The same also applies to different Public Sector Undertakings or PSUs that recruit on the basis of the GATE score. Candidates can check and download the Scorecard on the official website after log into their GOAPS account.
Also, AfterGraduation advised to all the candidates to download the scorecard from a desktop or laptop computer as against a mobile device. The candidates are also advised to take a print out of the scorecard for the future use. Qualified candidates, however, can download their GATE 2018 scorecard soft copy from March 20 to May 31, 2018, and Keep the printout copy of the result till the admission procedure over. After that, the scorecard will be available for download for a fee of Rs. 500 (five hundred only) until December 31, 2018.
GATE Scorecard
The GATE Score is different from the actual score and normalization of the marks are done for to calculate the proper Score. According to the GATE 2018 official notification, “After the evaluation of the answers, the actual (raw) marks obtained by a candidate will be considered for computing the GATE Score. For multi-session papers (subjects), raw marks obtained by the candidates in different sessions will be converted to normalised marks for that particular subject.
Scores are normalized to account for the difficulty level of different papers and number of candidates appearing for those papers. Thus, raw marks (for single session papers) or normalised marks (for multi-session papers) will be used for computing the GATE score and the qualifying marks.”
Calculation of GATE Score
Candidates can calculate GATE score by using this formula:
GATE Score=Sq + (St–Sq) (M–Mq) / (M¯t–Mq)
In the above formula:
M = marks secured by the candidate (Actual marks for single session papers and normalized marks for multi-session papers)
Mq = qualifying marks for general category candidate in the paper.
M¯t = Average marks of the top 0.1% or top 10 (whichever is larger) of the candidates who appeared in the paper (in case of multi-session papers including all sessions)
Sq = 350, score assigned to Mq
St = 900, score assigned to M¯t
Highlights of GATE 2018 ScoreCard
- Based on GATE scorecard, candidates can seek admission to post-graduation engineering courses and recruitment to PSUs.
- The GATE 2018 scorecard will be valid for a period of three years from the date of announcement of GATE 2018 result.
- The GATE 2018 Scorecard is made available for only those candidates who have obtained the category-wise qualifying marks in their respective papers.
- The GATE 2018 Scorecard is available for only a limited period of time (from March 21 to May 31, 2018). So, the candidates mustn’t wait until too late to download the scorecard. For obtaining the scorecard after May 31, 2018, candidates have to pay a fee of Rs.500.
GATE 2018 COAP
Starting 2017, IITs have designed a Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) to enable qualified candidates to check their admission for a postgraduate degree in engineering at IITs at one place. All GATE 2018 qualified and interested candidates must apply to the IITs of their choice, register through COAP and check the admission offer letters at GATE COAP. They must accept the offer that suits them best and accordingly complete the admission formalities at the respective IIT.
CCMT Counselling for NITs
Candidates, those qualify the examination can appear in the counselling procedure. NITs will conduct the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan Admission (CCMT). It is an online process for admission in postgraduate programmes in regional technical institutes which include 30 NIT and 10 CFTIs (Centrally funded institutions) . This counselling is conducted on the basis of GATE score card. Counselling for M.Tech admissions in NITs will be started in the month of April 2018 through online mode. This year, CCMT 2018 will be conducted by National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur.
GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)
GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies at Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai (Madras) and Bombay on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The GATE 2018 Exam was conducted by IIT Guwahati on February 3, 4, 10 and 11 across various exam centers in India. The results to which were declared on March 16, 2018, online. The facility to download the GATE 2018 scorecard would be available online.
GATE is a competition Exam, require continuous passion, higher concentration, determination and hard work to succeed. A candidate who will qualify GATE 2018 would not only open the gateway for post-graduation engineering courses (M.E., M.Tech, direct PhD) in IISc/IITs/NITs but also can have the opportunity to get placed in PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings).
