About GATE Exam
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee).
The exam is a gateway for the admissions into post-graduate Engineering programmes in IISc/IITs and other Institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and other government agencies. This exam primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology along with Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics.
The GATE score is valid for three years from the date of announcement of the result. Also, GATE Scores are used by many PSUs for recruitment of junior engineer or associate engineer posts.
