IIM Bangalore Ranked 3rd in MOOCLab’s B-School Rankings 2020

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has ranked at the 3^rd spot and ISB at the 14^th spot in MOOCLab’s B-School Rankings 2020 for its provision, design, and delivery of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

MoocLab has released the Top Business Schools ranking for their provision of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). MoocLab’s Business School Rankings 2020 (also known for World University Rankings by MOOC Performance) evaluate schools on 5 performance indicators – number of MOOCs provided, the provision of learning pathways, the provision of credit -granting credentials, the provision of MOOC-based degrees and the school’s teaching quality.

The 2020 edition of the ranking includes 16 business schools across the world offering courses on the three leading MOOC platforms – Coursera, edX, and FutureLearn.This is the first ever Business School rankings based on the provision of MOOCs. For the Teaching Quality Ranking, ranking scores were obtained from the Financial Times Executive Education open-enrolment Rankings 2019 for Teaching.

 HEC Paris (France) tops the Business School Rankings-2020 for their provision of Massive Open Online Courses with 17 courses currently available on Coursera, as well as 3 Specialization programs and a MasterTrack™ Certificate offering degree credit. HEC Paris is currently the only business school providing a MOOC-based degree across the three MOOC platforms, and their teaching methods and materials are ranked in the top 20 by the Financial Times.

Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, India take second and third place in the 2020 rankings. Although Wharton offers the highest number of individual open online courses (55) and course pathways (11), the school does not currently offer any credit-granting courses or MOOC-based degrees.

The IIM Bangalore has 43 open online courses available on the edX platform, as well as a professional certificate and 2 MicroMasters® Programs which offer academic credit toward completing a Master’s degree program.

Top B-Schools in MOOCLab’s B-School Rankings 2020

European Business Schools dominate the rankings with 12 out of the 16 schools listed in the list are based in Europe. These results stand in stark contrast to those found in the World University Rankings by MOOC Performance 2020 where the USA offering open online courses claimed 38 institutions in the top 100 universities and 7 of which are ranked in the top 10.

The Business School Rankings by MOOC Performance 2020 list schools offering courses on the three main MOOC platforms, Coursera (USA), edX (USA), and FutureLearn (UK). Despite the majority of schools listed being based in Europe, 14 out of the 16 schools listed deliver their open online courses via the US-based platform Coursera. Only one business school, Wharton School has courses available on both Coursera and edX.
