The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta), has completed its final placement process for the batch of 2018 in a span of over two days. More than 130 firms across different sectors were part of the IIM Calcutta placements process and a total of 481 offers were made to its students.
Of the 481 offers made by over 130 firms, 50 percent were from consulting and finance sectors. The consulting and finance firms emerge as the top recruiters at the institute as consulting made the most at 27 percent offers, followed by finance at 23 percent for the 2016-18 batch. The institute, IIM Calcutta did not divulge details on compensation packages.
Major Recruiters at IIM Calcutta Placements
The consulting sector was the biggest recruiter in IIM Calcutta placements this year and offered 27 percent of the batch. Among consulting majors, Accenture Strategy, which also recently selected candidates in large numbers at IIM Ahmedabad, emerged as the top recruiter at IIM Calcutta also. There were other major recruiters such as The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Bain & Company, McKinsey & Company and AT Kearney.
Finance sector covered with 23 percent of the total offers. Finance firms like JP Morgan & Co, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Bessemer Venture Partners, Goldman Sachs, Citibank, Credit Suisse and IVFA among other recruiters. Bessemer Venture Partners, the oldest venture capital firm in the US, visited IIM Calcutta for the campus placement for the first time.
Other sectors recruiting at IIM Calcutta included Marketing (offered 16 percent of the batch), General Management (offered 14 percent of the batch), Product Management and Operations (offered 12 percent of the batch) and Information Technology and Analytics (8 percent of the batch).

Some of the Major Recruiting Companies from these sectors included such as Amazon, the Aditya Birla group, Star and EXL. Some of the other major companies that visited IIM Calcutta and took part in the recruitment process were Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Tata Administrative Services, Uber, Aditya Birla Group, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Star, EXL, and Proctor and Gamble.
Amazon, Aditya Birla Group, Star and EXL were the top recruiters in product management & operations, general management, marketing and IT & Analytics respectively.
Final campus placements at top B-schools, including the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), have started on a strong note indicating a possible uptick in the job market. Experts indicate that In 2018, job environment and creation will be much better than 2017.
