CLAT 2021 Exam Postponed, Registration Deadline Further Extended to June 15

CLAT 2021 Exam Postponed: The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) has decided to postpone the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2021 exam due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. Earlier, the law entrance exam CLAT 2021 was scheduled to be held on June 13, but now it stands postponed.

The decision was taken after a meeting of the executive committee of the Consortium of National Law universities on May 15, 2021. The new date of the CLAT 2021 exam will be notified in due course.


In addition to this, the CLAT 2021 application window has been also further extended in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The application process was to be closed on May 15 which now has been postponed till June 15. Law aspirants can still apply at the exam portal i.e. consortiumofnlus.ac.in online till June 15, 2021.

An official notification reads as “After reviewing the surge of COVID-19 pandemic in the country and keeping in view of health and safety of all stakeholders of CLAT, the Committee resolved that the CLAT-2021 scheduled to be held on June 13, 2021, stands postponed”.

Amid demands for cancellation of this law entrance exam from students, the Consortium of National Law Universities had assured students that it will take “appropriate steps as time and situation demand” and will keep the applicants updated accordingly.

CLAT 2021 Exam Registration Process

  • Visit the CLAT 2021 official website
  • Go to the ‘CLAT 2021’ tab and click ‘Register’, enter the mobile number and password.
  • Now login to the account with the login credentials.
  • Fill in the necessary details in the application form.
  • Upload the scanned documents and make the online payment of the fee. The CLAT 2021 application fee of Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,500 is applicable for open (general) and reserved category candidates respectively.
  • Once done, click on submit.
  • Your application has been submitted. Download the page for further need.

The law entrance exam will be conducted for admission to 5-year integrated LLB (undergraduate) and LLM (postgraduate) law programmes at participating institutions. It is organised by the Consortium of National Law Universities. A total of 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) consider CLAT score for admission to BA LLB, B.Sc LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, BSW LLB, and LLM programmes. NLUs offer 2,538 seats in the LLB course and 742 seats in the LLM course.
