The Consortium of NLU (National Law Universities) has again postponed the Common Law Admission Test, CLAT 2020 exam from its last announced date June 21, 2020. However, due to Coronavirus outbreak and lockdown 4.0 in the country, CLAT 2020 exam has postponed and the last date to submit the CLAT application form is further extended to July 01, 2020 from earlier scheduled May 18, 2020.
CLAT is a national level law entrance exam, held for admission of eligible candidates in undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes – LLB, LLM, LLB 5 year integrated, etc courses offered by 22 NLU and other Law Institutes. CLAT 2020, which was earlier scheduled to be held on May 10, 2020, will now be announced by July 01, 2020.
As per the notification released by the conducting body on the CLAT 2020 official website, the candidates will be given at least 21 days prior notice for the CLAT 2020 exam. Prof. Balraj chauhan, Convenor, CLAT 2020, said “The executive committee unanimously resolved to extend the date for online applications to July 1 because of prevailing pandemic COVID-19 in the country that mandates for social distancing”.
Candidates who are interested in appearing for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2020 examination can now apply at the CLAT official website, clat.ac.in and clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in. The CLAT 2020 exam application submission deadline is also extended from March 31 to April 25 to May 18, 2020 and now it is July 01, 2020.

The CLAT Consortium has also notified that it will set up a Peer Prep Group for General Knowledge and Current Affairs where the candidates can work on improving their preparation. The conducting body will monitor the group and keep the conversation focussed and issue clarifications that can help the candidates in their preparation.

CLAT Exam 2020 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria to appear for the CLAT 2020 UG Entrance exam is that the candidate should have cleared the 10+2 examination with a minimum of 45% (40% for SC/ST).
For CLAT PG Entrance exam, the candidate must have LL.B Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) of marks. There is no upper age limit to appear for the CLAT exam.
CLAT 2020 Application Fee
Candidates belonging to General category will have to pay Rs 4,500 to apply for the CLAT 2020 exam while for the SC and ST categories, the candidates have to pay Rs 3,500.
As a precautionary measure against Coronavirus, candidates should apply for this exam from their personal computers or mobile phones. If visiting a cyber cafe or doing it from a public computer is the only way to apply, then precautions for sanitising one’s hands before and after the usage of the computer and maintaining a social distance to protect from Coronavirus should be followed.
