The Common Admission Test 2019 for admission to MBA programmes in Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other Top Business Schools, in the coming academic session, will be held on next week, Sunday, November 24. CAT (Common Admission Test) is considered as a gateway for admission to MBA programs.
Common Admission Test 2019 is a computer-based management aptitude test of 3 hours duration to evaluate and shortlist candidates for admission to management postgraduate programs. CAT 2019 is scheduled to be conducted in two sessions (Morning – 9:00 AM – 12:00 noon and Afternoon – 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM) on the same day i.e November 24 across 156 cities in India at 376 test centres.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode is the coordinating institute of the CAT 2019. CAT comprises Verbal Ability And Reasoning Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation And Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Aptitude (QA).
Approximately 2.44 lakh candidates have applied successfully for CAT 2019 and 92 % of the applicants were allocated a test centre in their first preference city. The CAT admit card has been released for downloading on the official website (iimcat.a.in) in October and the same will be available to download till November 24.
Candidates are required to download their admit cards from the CAT website, take printouts, affix their passport-sized photographs (same as uploaded in CAT application form) and bring them to their respective test centres along with one photo identity proof.
Admission to IIMs for the Management programmes is a rigorous process that comprises shortlisting through CAT Score, personal interview, written test or group discussions.
There are 20 IIMs in the country of which the two oldest ones, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta, were established in 1961. IIMs reserve 15% seats for SC candidates, 7.5% seats for ST candidates, 27% seats for NC-OBC candidates and up to 10% seats for EWS candidates.
