The GATE 2020 website is made live by the GATE 2020 conducting Authority. This year the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE 2020 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD). The institute confirmed the same by updating gate.iitd.ac.in as GATE 2020 website.
IIT Delhi has conducted GATE 1992, 1998, 2004 and 2012 earlier too. The institute is going to use gate.iitd.ac.in for GATE 2020 website, however, all the internal tabs (for Home, Brochure, Advertisement, GATE International, Pre Exam, Post Exam, FAQs, and Contact Us ) are to be made active in the due course of time. For the upcoming exam, the GATE 2020 website has been activated and will begin accepting applications form from the first week of September 2020 onwards.
GATE 2020 exam will be conducted in the first two weekends of February 2020, as per the schedule. The examination will be a computer-based Test (CBT) format for 25 subjects. GATE 2019 was conducted by the IIT Madras for 24 disciplines on February 2, 3 and February 9, 10.
In 2019, a new subject paper Statistics was added to the regular 23 subjects including Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering among other subjects and it is expected that in 2020, Biomedical Engineering will be added.

Based on GATE Score, a student can seek admission and/or financial assistance in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies for
(i) Master’s programs and Doctoral programs (direct) in Engineering/Technology/Architecture, and
(ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science.
Many foreign institutes including National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technical University (NTU), RWTH Aachen and TU Munich accepts GATE examination score for admissions in postgraduate programmes.
The exam score is also accepted by several government-run companies or public sector undertakings (PSUs) for their recruitment process (PSU Recruitment through GATE Score).
The GATE score will be valid for three years from the date of announcement of the results — implying that students can seek admission or employment until three years of result declaration.
GATE 2020 Exam Pattern
The exam pattern of GATE is different for different papers. However, Candidates will have to answer 65 questions for a total of 100 marks within three-hours’ time. The exam is divided into two sections of questions, MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and NAT (Numerical Answer Type) Questions.
GATE assesses candidates in general aptitude and mathematics apart from their core engineering area of the candidate. In MCQ, for an incorrect answer chosen, there will be negative marking while there is no negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions.
The syllabus for GATE 2020 will be also uploaded with the information brochure and the candidates can check the syllabus for all the 25 papers. the candidates have to follow the syllabus of the paper that they are appearing for in GATE.
