Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore are among the top education institutions from the Country which made it to the top 100 list of THE Global University Employability Ranking 2018. IIT Delhi and IISc Bangalore are among the world’s top 100 institutions in producing highly employable graduates.
A total of 150 universities have been listed in the Global University Employability Ranking 2018 and IISc Bangalore, IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad have made it to the list from India. As per the latest ranking, IISc Bangalore Ranked at 28, IIT Delhi secured the 58th position and Indian Institute of Ahmedabad ranked at 144.
There is a commendable improvement for India in the rankings, as it has not matched the advances made by others in the region. IISc has improved its position by one place from its last year ranking. This phenomenal jump of IIT Delhi from its 145th rank last year to 58th ranking this year is a reflection of the high-quality training IIT Delhi provides to its students. IIT Bombay dropped out of the list and IIM Ahmedabad is a new entrant in the rankings this year.
Top Institutes in Global University Employability Ranking 2018
The Harvard University of United States switches the ranking with California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and topped the Global University Employability Ranking 2018. MIT from the United States and the University of Cambridge from the United Kingdom rose one rank this year and secure position 3 and 4 in the rankings. Stanford University slipped to two ranks from its previous year ranking and was placed at position 5 .
As for the Top 5, 4 places continue to be with US Universities and One with the United Kingdom.

The data analysis reveals that the US continues to dominate the ranking as swiftly narrowing global employability gap. America has 34 institutions in the top 150 this year, compared to 55 in 2011. Chinese Universities are leading in the Asian Universities, which overall have increased.
The UK largely holds its position in this year’s ranking – retaining 10 institutions. But US and UK universities are also found to be struggling to keep pace with global competitors in preparing students for the modern workplace.

The 2018 report reveals that most countries value soft skills, such as collaboration and communication – whereas harder, practical skills are valued most in China.
Times Higher Education released THE Global University Employability Ranking 2018 recently. The top 150 institutions worldwide ranking for employability are produced by French HR consultancy Emerging and published by the United Kingdom’s leading publication ‘Times Higher Education’, based on a global survey of around 7,000 recruitment and international managers from major businesses.
According to THE, an online survey was completed by two panels of participants between May and September 2018 to produce the Global University Employability Ranking 2018. The panels included respondents from 22 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, the UK and the US.
Both panels amounted for a total of about 7,000 respondents who cast around 75,000 votes for the universities they felt were the best for graduate employability. Together, they represent employers that have recruited more than 250,000 young graduates in the past 12 months.
Being Indian, either we should feel proud or thoughtful ?? We are Number 2 in Population Ranking in the world but in Education, University Rankings, Graduate Employability Rankings etc we are lagging behind many countries.
