The Weightage of the academic profile is also increased for shortlisting the candidates for the PI-WAT round. The IIM Bangalore PGP 2019-21 admission announced criteria bring liberalized and lower weightage to CAT 2018 Cut off Score and greater weightage to academic and personal profile.

The Indian Institutes of Management is one of the most prestigious institutions of India. The Management programs primarily offered by the different IIMs are doctoral, postgraduate and executive education. Every IIMs – IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Bangalore, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Trichy etc. has its own set of eligibility criteria and admission policy.

IIM Bangalore is one of the best B-Schools in India established in 1973. The selection for Post Graduate Program in Management is done on the basis of marks obtained in the Common Admission Test (CAT). For Non-Residents of India (NRI) and other foreigners, the entrance exam for PGP is the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The marks obtained in these exams are the main criteria to check the suitability of the aspirants for any B-School admission. The Post Graduate Program in Management is a full time, 2 years program with a total of 6 trimesters.

IIM Bangalore PGP 2019-21 Eligibility Criteria

There are certain criteria for MBA aspirants laid by IIM Bangalore to be eligible for admission. The criteria are as follows-

• For General category Students, they must have a Bachelor’s degree. The minimum marks are atleast 50% or the equivalent CGPA to it.

• For the students from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or Differently Abled category, the minimum percentage criteria is reduced to 45% or the equivalent CGPA to it along with bachelor degree

Candidates appearing for their final year Bachelor’s degree examination may also apply.

IIM Bangalore PGP 2019-21 Admission Criteria

The revised admission policy is released by IIMs every year. Admission for PGP program 2019-2021 in IIM Bangalore requires several steps to qualify to be enrolled in the institute. These can be broadly divided into two steps to get admission:

• MBA Entrance Exam Score – Common Admission Test (CAT) Score
• Group Discussion(GD)/Personal Interview (PI)/Written Ability Test(WAT).

Stage 1: Common Admission Test

This is the first step that has to be qualified in order to be shortlisted for GD/PI/WAT. The qualification of this test depends on the cut-offs set by IIM which differs for each category. The marks obtained in CAT is not only used for shortlisting for the second stage but is also taken into account for the final selection procedure.

Along with marks scored in CAT examination, other parameters also play a very crucial role in the admission process. Candidates are only called for the second stage if they have obtained the minimum cut off marks along with the different several other parameters described below:

IIMB Shortlisting criteria for PI-WAT (Second Stage) is based on a 40% weight for CAT 2018 score and 50% Weight to Academics (10th, 12th and Graduation degree) while the Final admission selection Criteria award only 25% weightage to CAT 2018 score. A score is calculated on the basis of the above parameters, and then the qualified students are called according to their obtained score by different IIMs.

NOTE: Pre-Personal Interview (Stage 1) score for Work Experience = 8x/36 if 0 < x < 36 = 8 if x >= 36 where x is the months of work experience up to July 2018. The work experience score (maximum 8 in Stage 1) will be multiplied by the quality of work experience score on a 5 point scale (0.25 – 0.5 – 1 – 1.5 – 2) as given by interviewers in the PI process in Step 2. This is done to arrive at a weighted work experience score.

Stage 2: Personal Interview (PI)/Written Ability Test (WAT)

After qualifying the first stage, shortlisted candidates are called for WAT/PI. WAT has replaced the Group Discussion (GD) procedure in most of the IIMs, including IIM Bangalore.

The Written Ability Test is a pen-paper test. This test ranges from 15-30 minutes time duration. The topic can be from different fields such as finance, economics, current affairs etc. The word limit is of 300-400 words. The evaluation is done on the basis of content and style.

For the second stage, the Written Ability Test is followed by Personal Interview (PI). A Personal Interview round is also conducted for every shortlisted candidate. In this round, an interview is taken by the panel who evaluates a student on various parameters such as academic background, quality of work experience and other personal traits.

After the PI/WAT round, another combined scored is calculated on the basis of the following parameters:

The composite score calculated through the above-mentioned parameters is taken into account for the final selection process.

NOTE:

• The Panel of PI also uses the three confidential reference letters for evaluation presented by the aspirants from their faculty or employer.
• After this stage, weighted work experience score is calculated by multiplying work experience score as obtained in stage 1 and quality of work experience score as obtained in stage 2.

The shortlisted students for the final list will get the information by April 2019. The selected candidates will be required to confirm their admission by submitting offer acceptance form and requisite fee.
