NMAT by GMAC Registrations for MBA Admission Up 7%

The registration for NMAT by GMAC for MBA Admission has successfully completed 3 years, with substantial growth of 7 percent in registrations for 2017 over the previous year. A computer-based objective type multiple-choice exam, NMAT by GMAC  is accepted by management institutes in India as a criterion for admission, saw a 7% growth closing at 88,454 with the retakes as against 82,928 in the previous year.

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), which conducts the exam, said, “The registration of women went up to 40% and 47% for non-engineering candidates in 2017”.

The registration window for the exam was open from July 4, 2017, until October 14, 2017. The exam was delivered between October 5 to December 18, 2017, and the results are now expected in the third week of January 2018.

In March 2015, GMAC had acquired ownership of the exam from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). It was subsequently known as NMAT by GMAC. Since the takeover by GMAC, several unique new features have been added to the exam year-on-year basis to make it India’s most-candidate-friendly graduate management admission test.

NMAT by GMAC test center network has expanded by 100 percent from 24 cities to 48 cities in 2017 and additionally opened international test centres in Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Gaurav Srivastava, Regional Director (South Asia), GMAC said “This year we are witnessing a much stronger preference for the NMAT by GMAC exam by the business schools accepting the exam score for admission. Large candidate pool to choose from, diversity in gender and stream of education are some of the factors that are driving this preference”.

He also noted that the exam has recorded steady growth in registrations over a period of time. Last year, it recorded a 17 % growth in total registration numbers. This year the registrations closed at 82,928 in the year 2016 up from 70,950 in 2015 and 20 new test centres were launched in India. 58 NMAT by GMAC test centers in 44 cities in India and 4 international locations have increased the accessibility of the exam to the candidates.

NMAT by GMAC Exam Features 

This year, among the new features, the candidates were able to register for the exam at nmat.org.in. New features like multiple login methods, additional payment options, new international and regional test centers were introduced for convenience of a candidate to opt for the NMAT by GMAC exam and to achieve the career of their dreams.

The multiple logins allowed candidates to register through Google, Facebook etc. They were also given the facility of the auto-generated One Time Password (OTP) and even last year’s credentials for the purpose.

The improvement in registrations numbers highlights that NMAT by GMAC continues to be one of the popular and candidate friendly exams for MBA aspiring students, to pursue management education from top B-Schools in the country.
