AIBE XV 2020 Exam Date has been announced. AIBE (All India Bar Examination), is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) to assess the capability of law degree holders who want to practice the legal profession in India. Bar Council of India will conduct AIBE XV (15) on 16th August 2020.
AIBE is a standard test for assessing candidates’ analytical skills and the basic knowledge of Law Education. AIBE is intended to set a minimum benchmark for admission of the Law Graduates to the practice of law. After qualifying this law entrance exam, candidates will be awarded “Certificate of Practice” by the BCI.

AIBE XV Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria as required for appearing in AIBE (XV)
- Applicant must be a citizen of India. There is no upper or lower age limit prescribed by BCI for writing AIBE.
- Applicants should hold a Law degree (either 3 years or 5 years Integrated programme) from any institute recognized by BCI.
- No minimum percentage is required in the qualifying examination to apply for AIBE.
- Aspirants should hold registration as an advocate professional (valid Advocate ID) from any registered state bar council.
- Candidates, who are qualifying the LLB degree in the current session, cannot apply for AIBE (XV).
AIBE-15 Application Form
AIBE (15) 2020 application form will be available through online mode. Candidates can fill their application form from 16th May 2020. Candidates are advised to fill educational, personal, communication etc details carefully in the application form.
Candidates must upload photograph and signature in the prescribed format. Application form will be available till 27th July 2020. Take printout of the filled submitted application form and keep it secure for further procedures.
Application fee will be Rs. 3560 (for general/ OBC) and Rs. 2560 (SC/ ST) candidates.
AIBE Exam Pattern
Bar Council of India will conduct AIBE (XV) in pen-paper mode. There will be 100 objective type questions to be answered in 3 hours 30 minutes exam duration. Candidates with 80% or more disability will be provided an extra time of 20 minutes per hour. The Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) spread across various subjects and for each correct response, one mark will be awarded. However, for any incorrect response, there is no negative marking.
The AIBE (15) exam will be an open book exam. It means that candidates can bring any study aid or any reading material like textbooks and treatises, Preparatory Materials, and even handwritten notes in the examination hall while writing the answers. There will be ‘knowledge-based’ and ‘reasoning based’ questions in the examination. Candidates have a choice to choose any preferred language from 11 languages to attempt the examination.
