The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) tops again in Indian Management Institutes followed by IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow, according to the countrywide government ranking “NIRF Rankings 2018” of educational institutions for Management Category.
The results of the third edition of the domestic ranking “NIRF Rankings 2018” were announced by HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar at an event in the Vigyan Bhavan on Tuesday, April 03, 2018. Unlike last year, this time the ranking was released under Nine categories compared to Five Categories in the NIRF Rankings Year 2017. Four new categories of Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture and Law have been added along with other five Categories — Overall, Colleges, Universities, Management and Engineering.
Among Indian Management Institutes Category, IIM Ahmedabad which was top last year has ranked again as Indian Top Management Institute in the National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF), Rankings 2018. This year, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), a new entrant in the Management Category rankings, dislodged IIM Kozhikode to grab the number five spot.
Meanwhile, IIT Mumbai was ranked highest at rank 5, after IIM’s top ranks. XLRI Jamshedpur is the only private institution in the top 10 rank list slipped to one rank at position 10 this year. IIT Delhi slipped to rank 8 this year from its earlier rank 6 in 2017.

NIRF 2018 Ranking Parameters
This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources”, “Research and Professional Practices”,“Graduation Outcomes”, “Outreach and Inclusivity” and “Perception”.
